Pokémon Scientist is distributed as a BPS patch, not as a ROM. You must supply your own legally obtained copy of Pokémon Blue (USA, Europe) (SGB Enhanced).rom.

Applying the Patch

The recommended patching utility is Floating IPS (Flips) (Windows, Linux) or MultiPatch (Mac). BPS patches are the modern standard for ROM hacks.

1. Download and open your desired patching utility.
2. Choose Apply Patch.
3. Select Pokemon Scientist_v1_1_patch.bps.
4. Select a clean Pokémon Blue (USA/Europe) ROM.
5. Save the patched ROM.
6. Open the patched ROM in your preferred Game Boy emulator or flash cartridge.

Dumping Your Own Cartridge

The easiest way to create a legal ROM is with a cartridge dumper such as the BennVenn Joey Jr.

1. Insert your Pokémon Blue cartridge into the Joey Jr.
2. Connect it to your computer via USB.
3. Open the Joey Jr. software, or FlashGBX.
4. Select Read ROM.
5. Save the dumped ROM to your computer.
6. Apply the Pokémon Scientist BPS patch using the instructions above.

Other cartridge dumpers that support Game Boy cartridges should work similarly.

• A Game Boy emulator (SameBoy/BGB recommended) or compatible flash cartridge

The Pokémon Scientist patch contains only original modifications.

This project does not include copyrighted Nintendo game data. Please use a ROM dumped from your own legally owned Pokémon Blue cartridge.
